unpopular opinion, apparently: youkai watch shadowside is good and i think its a welcome change of pace for the franchise, plus it gives the universe a new level of depth and progression since it takes place years in the future, what with natsume and keisuke being keita and fumika’s children and the youkai cast taking on a new form and in a sense growing up themselves. i also like the darker tone, i think it makes the whole anime feel more human and alive (tho i will admit the comedy has gotten bland and i kinda miss it). it also sucks that inaho is gone and the merican youkai seemed to cease existence, but the whole thing was such a bust in japan im sure it was not a loss for the eastern fans.

Unpopular Opinion: I like the comedy in Shadowside and I headcanon Inaho’s return as a YBI member wither her brother Riku, with USApyon being the few yokai unaffected by the light/shadowside thing
